2013: Carn Mor
Dearg Aręte route to Ben Nevis
After a 12-year delay Julie and I finally kept an appointment with
Ben Nevis!
The weather was absolutely stunning, and the conditions in the Highlands
could not be better: mid-teens temperature, sunny, dry, AND no midges!

After so many bad-weather days (over the years) in Glen Nevis, it
was great to see it at its best

Halfway Lochan, we leave the “tourist
path” and head around to the north-face of Ben Nevis

The accent of Carn Mor
Dearg is never easy, but you should have heard the
profanities! However, there can be few views better than this: the CMD Aręte
leading to the summit of Ben Nevis

The CMD Aręte takes you directly to the summit of Ben Nevis
I have summited six times over the years, but I’ve never had
conditions as glorious as this!
So, a full 12-years to the day since Julie and I embarked on our
adventure, the weather finally came good by us!
The following day, the weather was not as good – well you don’t
get two magnificent days in a row – we did The Devils Ridge.
