So where better to look in the garden for material to celebrate my #SixOnSaturday. I&#8217;ll start with a simple leaf, the sun bleeding through it&#8217;s almost translucent skin while frost provides an edgy highlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2039\" height=\"1445\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/yellow-leaf.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1850\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m pretty sure that my hardy winter veg will recover from being deep frozen. For now, frost provides a pretty sprinkle to enhances the curves and bumps of the Cavalo Nero kale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3081\" height=\"1655\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/kale.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1851\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the borders there are seed heads galore.  Perhaps my favourite comes from the statuesque wildflower teasel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2608\" height=\"1815\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/teasel.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1852\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Although it is fun to also let some veg go to seed.  This is the seed head left from a lovely purple leek flower.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2449\" height=\"1715\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/leek.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1853\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And crocosmia can also have a good solid set of seeds to display, at least until winter storms flatten the lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2259\" height=\"1527\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/crocosmia.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1854\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Last, but not least, I go back to the last few autumn leaves, holding sharp splinters of frost on what has been a very chilly morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"3014\" height=\"1649\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/red-leaf.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1855\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Join the sixes on Mastodon or other instances in the Fediverse via #SixOnSaturday, we need a few more folk to toot on the topic: come join us.
