I got a bit behind yesterday, seemed to forget it was Friday, hence this week&#8217;s blog is a little later than usual. But full of spring promise to celebrate the 2nd day of meteorological spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring started yesterday and it was also St. David&#8217;s day, so it seems appropriate to show off the first shy daffodils in honour of those who celebrate. Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1109\" height=\"915\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/daff.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1995\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s plenty of promise showing now in my extensive collection of garden pots.  The red tips on a pot full of tulip buds caught my attention. Rather fascinating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1273\" height=\"1267\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/tulip2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1996\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The first tulips are opening.  Not the plush cup-sized one&#8217;s we&#8217;re used to, but some of the &#8216;species varieties&#8217; &#8212; these are tulipa polychroma, essentially a wild variety, coming from western Turkey. Flowers are small (2cm across) and will open fully if we get some sunshine.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2071\" height=\"1550\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/tulip.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1998\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In the greenhouse, this week&#8217;s novelty is from an overwintering osteospermum. Coming into flower nicely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1829\" height=\"1346\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/osteospermum.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2000\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And outside the greenhouse, a wallflower sits prettily against the greenhouse wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2088\" height=\"1614\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/wallflower.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2001\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Last, but by no means least, a pot of crocus mixed with pom-pom primula seems to give a spring-like wave whenever i poke my head into the garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2144\" height=\"1464\" src=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/crocus-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2006\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I hope you enjoyed my celebration of spring picks for #SixOnSaturday this week.
