The new growing season draws closer, but SO slowly. For my #SixonSaturday this week I’ve gone for up-close views of some small stuff in the garden to make up for my disappointment at there being so few flowers yet. First up, flowers that don’t really seem to have stopped, despite the freezing temperatures. Roses, again, but the colour is so cheering. I think this bud might just make it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"663\" src=\"http:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rose-1024x663.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-235\" srcset=\"https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rose-1024x663.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rose-300x194.jpg 300w, https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rose-768x497.jpg 768w, https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rose-1536x994.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/balmerino.ddns.net\/geekygarden\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/rose-2048x1325.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
With the trees still bare, mosses and lichens are putting on a fascinating show. Finally, my small and still young witch hazel, that grows in a dark and shady corner….is JUST coming into flower.
